DBP, ( Di-Butyl Phthalate)

DBP is produced by esterifying Butanol and Phthalic Anhydride. DBP has excellent compatibility with PVC and has excellent plasticizing efficiency. A considerably low dosage is sufficient to achieve satisfactory flexibility. It is a general plasticizer and often used as a gelation agent. However, its higher volatility causes great loss during compounding, and its aging resistance, cold resistance, electric resistivity, and durability are poor. Furthermore, it easily migrates and suffers embrittlement at low temperatures, and its solvent extractability is high.
