2EH is produced from n-butyraldehyde via condensation, hydrogenation, distillation and refinement. The reactant butyraldehyde is produced via the LP OXO reaction of propylene and synthesis gas. 2EH is an odorous, flammable, and colorless liquid. It is only slightly soluble in water, but soluble in most organic solvents.
